PROSCIUTTO DI CARPEGNA PDO BRINGS EUROPEAN CHARCUTERIE TRADITION TO SAN DIEGO FOOD + WINE FESTIVAL

Hand-slicing

From 6 to 8 November, The EU Gem Ham will welcome festival guests with tastings, hand-slicing and chef collaborations celebrating this European cured ham

CARPEGNA, ITALY, October 26, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Three days of tastings and culinary experiences with some of the most exciting names in the American food scene: Prosciutto di Carpegna PDO will be among the highlights of the San Diego Food + Wine Festival, one of the leading culinary events in the United States, bringing together renowned chefs, international producers, industry professionals and food and wine enthusiasts.

Through “The EU Gem Ham”, the promotional campaign co-funded by the European Union, Prosciutto di Carpegna PDO will participate in the festival's three signature events from 6 to 8 November 2026, introducing American consumers, food enthusiasts and industry professionals to the authentic taste and craftsmanship of this European cured ham.

Prosciutto di Carpegna PDO will have a special role during Icons + Legends Opening Night on Friday, 6 November, the festival's exclusive opening event held at JULEP Venue. At a dedicated tasting station, Davide Carminati, an expert Italian norcino, will welcome arriving guests with live hand-slicing demonstrations, offering them the opportunity to discover the craftsmanship behind this traditional technique and savour Prosciutto di Carpegna PDO in its purest form.

The experience will continue on Saturday, 7 November, at the Grand Tasting, held at Embarcadero Marina Park North, where visitors will be able to discover Prosciutto di Carpegna PDO at a dedicated booth. The same setting will host the Grand Fiesta on Sunday, 8 November, an event celebrating the vibrant culinary traditions and influences connecting Southern California with Mexico and Baja California. Across both days, Davide Carminati will offer freshly sliced samples, allowing guests to discover this European ham.

“The United States is a key market for Prosciutto di Carpegna PDO, and participating in events such as the San Diego Food + Wine Festival allows us to strengthen our presence while reaching new audiences,” says Marco Pulici, Vice President of the Consorzio Prosciutto di Carpegna PDO. “Beyond offering visitors the opportunity to taste our product, we want to share the craftsmanship and traditions behind it, while building valuable connections with chefs and food industry professionals who play an important role in bringing European quality products to American consumers.”

Prosciutto di Carpegna PDO is produced exclusively in the municipality of Carpegna, in the Marche region, according to strict production rules and a slow curing process that enhances its delicate flavour, soft texture and aromatic fragrance. Its PDO certification guarantees origin, authenticity and compliance with a protected traditional production method.

The EU GEM HAM campaign is co-financed by the European Union and aims to increase awareness of premium EU food products that carry the Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) and Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) status—symbols of guaranteed quality, regional heritage, and artisanal craftsmanship.
