Trump Says Iran Giving Twenty Oil Tankers to US ‘Out of Respect’
Trump described the shipment as “a tribute — I don't know, I can't define it exactly, but they gave us, I think out of a sign of respect, 20 boats of oil — big, big boats of oil — going through the Hormuz Strait, and that's taking place starting tomorrow morning.” He added that US negotiations with Iran are progressing well.
“I would only say that we're doing extremely well in that negotiation,” Trump said. He expressed optimism about a possible deal, stating he is “pretty sure” a deal will be reached, though he acknowledged it is not guaranteed.
Trump also noted that negotiations with Iran are occurring both “directly and indirectly,” and when asked about a potential ground operation, he said the US has “lots of alternatives.” He highlighted that the current Iranian delegation represents “a new regime…people that we've never dealt with before, that are acting very reasonable.”
The announcement comes after Iran rejected a US 15-point plan to end the conflict, insisting that any ceasefire would occur only on Tehran’s terms and timeline. Trump responded by noting, “Yeah…They gave us most of the points — why wouldn't they? Just to prove that they're serious, they gave us all of these boats.”
