Suspected Iranian Drones Strike CIA Station at US Embassy in Riyadh

(MENAFN) Two suspected Iranian drones hit the US Embassy compound in Riyadh on Monday, reportedly striking the CIA station housed within the facility, according to sources familiar with the matter.

Both the US and Saudi governments confirmed the embassy was struck, but did not reveal that the agency’s intelligence hub was among the targets.

An internal State Department alert indicated that the attack caused part of the embassy’s roof to collapse and filled the interior with smoke, leaving structural damage. Embassy personnel were sheltering in place at the time, and no CIA casualties were reported.

The strike occurs amid escalating tensions across the region following the US and Israel’s large-scale attack on Iran on Saturday, which killed nearly 800 people, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Iran has responded with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel and Gulf countries hosting US military assets.
