France Reports Third Infant Death Amid Baby Formula Recalls

(MENAFN) French health authorities have reported a third infant death potentially linked to baby formula, as recalls of infant food products continue across Europe.

The Health Ministry’s crisis center said that “three reports of infant deaths have been brought to the attention of French health authorities," according to reports. The cases involved children who were reported to have consumed formula that was subject to recent recalls.

Two previous infant deaths were reported on December 23 and January 8.

“To date, no causal link has been scientifically established. Judicial investigations are underway regarding these reports,” the ministry added.

Since late 2025, several brands, including Nestlé and Danone, have voluntarily recalled and withdrawn infant formulas in France and other countries over concerns that some products may contain the toxin cereulide.
