Insecurity drives civilians to flee South Kordofan in Sudan
According to the UN agency, field teams estimated that 125 people left Kadugli and 270 departed Dilling on January 11 and 12, seeking refuge in areas of White Nile state.
Kadugli and Dilling have been under siege by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and their allies in the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement–North since the early stages of the war, enduring repeated artillery shelling and drone attacks.
Last week, the IOM reported that the number of displaced individuals in the three Kordofan states had reached 64,890 between October 25 and December 30, 2025.
Across Sudan, the RSF controls most of Darfur in the west, with the exception of some northern areas under army control, while the Sudanese army holds the majority of the remaining 13 states, including the capital Khartoum.
The conflict, which began in April 2023 between the Sudanese army and the RSF, has resulted in thousands of deaths and forced millions of people from their homes.
